Hi! I'm Sophie, the creative force behind Sophie Hermes Design.
Nature has always been my source of inspiration, guiding my creativity since my university days studying textile design. Each of my designs celebrates the raw beauty of plants, flowers, and the natural world.
Life has its ups and downs, and after an illness that provided a new perspective, I found myself at a crossroads. That's when I decided to dive into garden design, blending my creative spark with a deep-rooted love for nature. It was a leap of faith that paid off — I not only loved it but discovered a true passion.
Incorporating floristry marked a pivotal moment, enriching my repertoire. The worlds of landscape design and floristry, just clicked in my hands.
Sustainability is at the heart of what I do
I use local and British growers where I can (I'm always looking for new suppliers and growers to work with, so please send me any suggestions!), ensuring I embrace the beauty of seasonal blooms. Floral foam and plastic have no place in my designs; I'm on a mission to be plastic-free.
In my garden and landscape designs, I prioritize water efficiency, rainwater collection, and creating spaces that coexist with wildlife and clients alike. It's about shared spaces, enjoyed to the fullest through careful and considered design.

I design for the space, ensuring the spaces work for both clients and wildlife. The basis of all my designs is to showcase the majesty of nature
-
Knowing I've improved their spaces, given them reasons to be outside & a feeling of joy. Everyone deserves to enjoy nature, whether that's in a garden or a vase. I want my clients to have a better understanding of seasonality and growing respect for nature after working with me.

It's a privilege — a constant source of awe, surprise, and excitement. I’m always learning, whilst understanding the weightiness of the power and control I have when designing.

Being sustainable is a luxury in itself. They go hand in hand, creating designs that are not just beautiful for clients but also beneficial for our environment.
